BEH Patient Support Services

Bristol Eye Hospital Patient Support Group

Eye Clinic Liaison Officer Laura Trigger runs a Patient Support Group at the Hospital.

The Patient Support Group is an invaluable source of support, information and advice for those who attend.  It is a chance to meet others with similar issues and to ask questions in a non-judgemental, confidential environment.  The group is free to join and is open to patients, relatives, friends and carers.

The Group meets six times a year, usually on the first Monday of even numbered months, from 10.30am to 12.00 noon in the Eye Hospital on Level 1.

Typically speakers can be a consultant, an optometrist, charities (such as Blind Veterans/Age UK), Bristol City Council or a nutritionist.

If you are interested in any of these, please call Laura Trigger on 0117 342 9097.

Lifecycle Two's Company

Bristol charity Lifecycle offers tandem cycle rides for visually impaired adults or young people under 18 with visual impairments or developmental issues.

Tandem riding is a very sociable activity.  It is fantastic for wellbeing, building self-confidence, and providing physical activity for any level of ability.

Lifecycle’s Two’s Company offers this great experience free.  They provide the tandems, trained volunteers and ride leaders for each ride.  The rides all take place locally in or near Bristol.  Occasionally we also organise a themed ride, for example a trip to a Steam Train, Dawn Chorus, Bush-craft skills etc.

For more information about regular rides for young people and adults with a visual impairment please see our website
