A special welcome to our new trustee – Claire Ellis
We’re delighted to welcome Claire Ellis as a trustee of the Friends of Bristol Eye Hospital.
Claire explained she’d wanted to find a way to say a ‘thank you’ to the hospital for all the help given to her partner Ian by the staff of the Bristol Eye Hospital.
“Volunteering to become a trustee of the Friends seemed an excellent way to do that and hopefully help others in the future,” she explained.
Claire’s partner Ian had a detached retina last year and this was followed by another detachment early January.
“Unfortunately, there were then posterior vitreous retina complications that meant he need further operations to remove the scar tissue and repair further detachments, which led to a total of six operations.”
“As a result, I have spent many hours at the eye hospital and now feel a sense of allegiance, so when I saw the noticeboards and leaflets about the charity I wondered whether I might be able to help in some way. I feel I want to give something back to the exceptional staff we have encountered in what has now been a year-long journey!”
Claire, who works for a law firm in Bristol, has previously been the treasurer on the PTA at her daughter’s school, so we’re sure that her knowledge will be extremely useful in the Friends.
