If you would like to donate online using a Credit or Debit Card, please go to Donate by Card, where you can also join the Friends or give us your contact details, or Donate by PayPal.

Alternatively, you can donate to the Friends in any of the following ways. We would be very grateful if you would also complete and send us a Donation Form so that we thank you, ensure we communicate with you as you wish and perhaps claim Gift Aid too:

Cash in any of the Friends’ collection boxes in the hospital including at the main reception desk or in our MoneySpinner near the Brewnel Café on the ground floor. Provided the amount you donate at any one time is not more than £30, we can claim Gift Aid (25% of your donation) on your donation. You do not have to be a tax-payer nor fill out any forms for us to do this.

If you would like us to acknowledge receipt, please put your money in an envelope with your name and email or postal address. We will only contact you to thank you.

Cheques or CAF Vouchers payable to Friends of Bristol Eye Hospital posted or delivered to us.  As above, these may be dropped into any of our collecting boxes or the MoneySpinner.

We do not have an office in the hospital and we do not visit the hospital regularly.  Hospital staff are always exceptionally busy and it may be some time before we receive any forms or cheques and are able to thank you.  Accordingly, we recommend you call or email the Treasurer, and we will give you a home address so you can post them directly to us.

CAF Card – If you have an account with CAF, you should be able to make a single or regular donation from your account to us.

Credit or Debit Card in the hospital – If you go to the smaller ground floor reception desk (the one with shutters opposite the door into the St Odilia garden), they can take a donation (or a purchase for Christmas cards) using a card reader.  Donations of up to £30 automatically qualify for Gift Aid (even if you are not a taxpayer).

Internet Banking – You can donate directly to our bank account either by Open Banking or by BACS:

Regular Donations – you may use internet banking or instruct your bank to make regular donations (monthly, quarterly or annually) to our bank account as above.  Or:

  • If you are a new donor, you can do this by completing the regular donation section on our Donation Form and returning the form to us.
  • If you are already a member or a previous donor, there is no need to complete this form again; please complete a Bankers Order Form and send this directly to your bank or to us.

If you later wish to change the amount you donate or to stop donating, you should be able to do this using internet banking or by asking your bank to do it.

Text – To donate £5 text EYE to 70085. Or you can donate any amount in whole pounds between £1 and £20 by texting EYE followed by the amount, eg to donate £10: text EYE 10 to 70085.
Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard rate message.

If you donate by text, you will receive a text inviting you to make a Gift Aid declaration (without further charge).

Staying in touch

If you would like to join the Friends or stay in touch with us or simply wish us to thank you, please complete and return a Donation Form with your first donation.

By filling out this form, you can tell us what communications you would like to receive (and how), your reason for donating, whether we may publicise your name and/or reasons for donating and, if you are a taxpayer, you can also give us a Gift Aid declaration.

If you prefer not to send us a form, and you would like us to acknowledge your donation, please let us know an address, email or telephone number.

We will only send you what you want to receive by the method(s) you choose. You may change your choices at any time. You may ask what data we hold for you or ask us to amend it at any time.  To make any changes please write by email or post to the Secretary or telephone 0300 102 4556.  Our email and postal addresses are in CONTACT.
