A special welcome to Joanna Keaney, our new trustee
We’re delighted to welcome Joanna Keaney as a new trustee of the Friends of Bristol Eye Hospital charity.
Joanna confessed that she hadn’t actually been thinking of being a trustee but whilst volunteering in the Eye Hospital she started chatting with Carole Brooke, the secretary of the Friends, who “gently persuaded me it would be a wonderful thing to do.”
As with a number of trustees, both past and present, Joanna was very happy to help the Friends, explaining she was so grateful for the wonderful treatment she received from the doctors and nurses of the hospital following a detached retina.
Joanna has certainly led a fascinating life! She’s spent a number of years travelling and is currently living in Bristol, having also lived in London, Dublin and New York.
Her hobby is ceramics and she spends many happy hours pottering about with clay in her garage/studio.
In addition to becoming a trustee of the Friends, Joanna undertakes a number of other volunteer roles that include helping transport elderly people or those with mobility problems to doctors’ surgeries and local hospitals.
